When I talk to other Latin American people, they always tell me that we are happier than American born people. We enjoy life so much more. We dance. We jump. We are not so complicated. Bla, bla, bla.
The more I think about this, the more I think it's not true, that we just have a different approach to happiness (ours is perhaps simpler and organic; theirs, more goal oriented and structured.) After all, which culture has boleros and tangos?
All those "qualities" we use to explain why we're happier, don't they become totally negative when you view them from an opposite perspective? For example:
-We are louder (lets show up we are happy because we are not really sure but maybe if the others hear us they will believe it and we will end up believing it too)
-Impulsive, spontaneous (irresponsible, rushed, unthinking, unprepared)
-Passionate (bully)
-We just feel it, we don't need to work at it (we just f... lazy and totally unwilling to grow up emotionally)
Wondering: Is anybody happy at all? My impression: Not really (well, maybe the dalai lama nd very rich girls with unlimited shoppin sprees and amazing looking well-endowed personal trainers).
