7 reasons I'm glad to be back in NY

-New Yorkers don't give a shit about anything. Although neurotics, they're happily (even proudly) so.
-There are no lowlifes harrasing you at every corner ( "bonsoir, ma belle, talk to me, talk to me, oh my, you arrrr zzzzo rude, you arrrrrr ugleee, ugleee I zay!") or trains (looking at your lips with what they think is a sensous stare: "zzzzo, arrr you married?").
-You can freely browse (and buy) OTC medications (over there the pharmacist starts to tighten her lips as soon as you say: is there anything stronger you can give me for my cold? Eucaliptus is sort of nice but...")
-You can enter a Starbucks without feeling like "un idiot."
-I can go back to saying "darling, darling, darling" (I tried with "chéri, chéri, chéri" but it's not the same)
-There is AC in the subways and a horde of people obsessed with deodorants.
-No matter where a New Yorker is from, what color he or she is, what religion he or she follows, (and let's not get into sexual preferences) we feel (and look like) we belong here, and, most importantly, are happy to be here.
